The Captain is leader of a fire crew. This beer takes charge of your taste buds with its rich flavor. Roasty malt character that has hints of chocolate and coffee which balances the smooth, velvety finish. The thick, creamy head lasts and lasts, leaving lace in your glass as your beer disappears. This beer pairs well with food. Great with dinner or as breakfast or even with a rich vanilla-bean ice cream.

Bottle. Pours with decent sized mocha brown head over an essentially black body. Aroma of lactic milk, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, dry grains, and nutmeg? Some brown sugar too. Taste is coffee, lots of mellow American roast, a bit of leather, brown sugar and a touch of milk. All around its pretty tasty. Bubbly mouthfeel, dryish finish. Good

Flavor, medium body, reminiscent of chocolate milk, malts with some caramel, hints of roasted coffee. Finishes smooth with lasting coffee impression.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Dark brown to black color; medium creamy head. Creamy aroma of roasted malt. The mouthfeel is at the same time dry and smooth, with roasted malts and coffee flavor, a bit creamy; the bitterness is balanced for this beer, and the final is not too aggressive, there is also a light sourness from the roasted malt. Drinkable but not impressive.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, roasted malt, alcohol, and wood, as well as a light note of bourbon. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt, wood, soy sauce, and chocolate, as well as light notes of bourbon, leading to a dry and bitter finish. But the body is thin. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Draught Black beer with a yellow rim. Roasted chocolate - smelling as chocolate buns being warmed too long. Roasted, chocolate and some cigar - some roasted barley? Not very thick, medium bodied. Reasonable stout.
