The Captain is leader of a fire crew. This beer takes charge of your taste buds with its rich flavor. Roasty malt character that has hints of chocolate and coffee which balances the smooth, velvety finish. The thick, creamy head lasts and lasts, leaving lace in your glass as your beer disappears. This beer pairs well with food. Great with dinner or as breakfast or even with a rich vanilla-bean ice cream.

Draft - Chocolate bittersweet with the usual coffee that accompanies. Jet black with a thin brown head. Espresso, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Pretty light body and the standard I would expect from the style.

Pours a nearly opaque black color with a touch of ruby around the edges. Medium creamy tan head that dissipates slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma is roasty with notes of malt and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, coffee and chocolate. The finish is roasty with a vanilla mocha aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bomber courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pours very dark brown with a huge frothy brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet, slightly sour, floral and tiny funky with dark bread, lemon juice, roasted malts, grape juice, wood, cocoa powder, lemon zest, baking soda, grass and hints of burnt caramel. Taste is sweet, bitter, tiny sour and malty with sweet dark bread, wood, oatmeal cookies, caramel, lemon zest, liquorice fudge, coffee, resin, vanilla and orange zest. Mouthfeel is crisp, tiny round, aggressively carbonated and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with dark bread, coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, toffee and lemon zest. A bit strange.

Bottle thanks to Peter. Pours black with tan head. Nose of roasted chocolate, sweet malt, coffee, vanilla and lactose. Taste is mostly lactose sweetness - possibly infected - some roast chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Medium body. Still very drinkable.

Received in trade from TexIndy, thanks as always for the opportunity. Pours a solid dark brown with the faintest of ruby highlights when held to the light. Tightly bubbled tan head dissipates quickly to form a cap. Smells of coffee and milk chocolate, caramel, and a slight bit of ash deep in the back. Taste is roasty with coffee, chocolate, caramel, a bit of dark fruit. Lingering fruity roasted gran bitterness in the finish. Prickly carbonation, medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Nice stout. A bit high on the carbonation, but otherwise a great stout.

Dark brown with a medium beige and creamy head. Aroma had hard roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavour was sweet with hard roasted malt, dark chocolate, hops, coffee and hints of oats. Finished sweet. Full bodied for a stout of this ABV. High drinkability.
