The Duck-Rabbit’s Scotch Ale is a full-bodied, deep copper-colored treasure. Bold and malty, this beer’s sweetness comes from a massive quantity of grain complemented by some serious kettle caramelization. The flavor is rounded out by a warming alcohol sensation.

Dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar and booze in the nose. Flavor has nice molasses, dark fruits, a bit of booze, toasted malts. Smooth. Enjoyable, but one is enough for me.

Received in trade from limesmut and mikesgroove, thanks for the opportunity guys. Pours a slightly hazy deep garnet with an off white head that disappears quickly. Smells of toffee, some peat and a bit of higher alcohol. Taste is sweet! Well it should be for the style. Mix in some fusel, a bit of peat, maybe a faint touch of hops and you’ve got a beer. The taste ends with an almost lactic twang in the background. Its not real pronounced, but its there. This bottle has been aged a bit so there’s no telling when it got there. Thick sweet mouthfeel, medium to heavy body. Not a bad brew, I wish I could have tried it fresh though.

OK, what up with this high alky brew? Yes, a wee heavy and on top of that; oily sweet sugary trist. Bitter sweet medicine finsih with each slug. Almost triggers the gag reflex but in a good beery way. Experience overall is old and rude, right on style, heheh. Gunk on bottom and this beers color is brownish orange. Not much for a pale lager lover to love here!

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 01/19/2010. Clear dark copper body with a medium frothy off-white head. Very sweet caramel, toffee and light toasty aroma. Sweet toasty malt flavor, some caramel and a bit of toffee. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Wine and Beer Westpark, 1/21/10
Aroma: Sweet caramel malts, earthy roast, some fruity character, smoke
Appearance: Pours a hazy dark amber color with a bubbly beige head
Flavor: Flavor is moderate-high sweetness, fruity, with a tart and sweet finish
Palate: Mouthfeel is chewy, alcohol is well hidden, medium (plus) bodied, carbonation is soft
Overall Impression: This is an interesting Scotch Ale, certainly not a exactly how you might describe the style, but an interesting interpretation. A little too sweet, though the tartness does provide just a drop of balance. Solid beer. I didn't love it, but I liked it enough.

Bottle. Pours a clear reddish-brown with a small head. Smells of chocolates and sweet malts. Taste is chocolate, rum-raisin... very sweet at a point.

Wee Heavy is not my most favorite style, but when I was presented this beer (through a mishap where I was supposed to get their coffee porter) I was intrigued. It wasn’t bad! The pour was a dark amber with a small light-tan head. Aroma is malts, nuts, caramel. Flavor is malts, nutty and caramel. Alcohol stands out, which might be my only downside to the entire experience.

355ml bottle. Redish brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of sweet malt, dry fruit, sherry and alcohol. Flavor is sweet malt, dry fruit, some caramel, wood, alcohol and a bitter finish. Quite heavy and sweet body, still somehow balanced on the bitter side. Lovly.
