Our good pally TM Evan Price gave us a call one day and asked if we wanted to take part in a bird-brained idea: nine breweries all brew the exact same recipe for a West Coast IPA and see how close they are to each other! Evan wrote the recipe, a 2024 version of the beer that won them a medal in American IPA in 2018, so all we had to do was honor that recipe and brew it the Breakside way, loading it up with delicious Mosaic, Citra, and Simcoe along the way.

We can’t wait to taste the other versions of this beer, but whether you get to try one of them or go crazy and seek out all nine, you’re almost certain to find a beer that epitomizes modern West Coast IPA. It’s clear, bitter, and hoppy: aromatic, dry, and light on the palate; brewed with the “Holy Trinity” of modern hop varietals and a slew of fancy, concentrated hops to saturate the beer to the max and add some extra razzle dazzle. Enjoy this, and remember: drink while smiling ™.

West coast IPAs are not dead. I had a Wanderlust last night. Gold body with white head. Hoppy aroma, some fruit. Full hop taste that goes to malt and back to hop then back to malt. Full finish.

Can. Pours a clear orange hue with a medium white head. A light sweet nose, citrus, tangerines. Very smooth, mild, toasted malts, some orange peel, sweet perfume. Oily.
