Our take on a winter ale is something uncommon in the Northwest: a rich and balanced strong ale inspired by the starkbiers and weinnachtsbiers sold in winter in the open air markets of Germany. Malt driven notes of orange, cocoa, candied fruit, and toast dominate the aroma and flavor of this beer. the body is luscious and full and gives way to a refreshing, spicy finish.

Bottle from Frank.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a murky orange darkness, almost brown in color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a mild pace. Light stringy lace.
The aroma had some sweet orange pulp, cocoa powder, sweet apples, white bread, leather, sweet cereal grains, sweet nuts, herbal/floral character, and some mild earthiness.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a certain dry maltiness about it. Some spiciness, but seemed to blend fairly nice. Aftertaste was malty with a touch of spice. Finish was dry, spicy and malty.
The palate was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt as projected.
Overall, seemed more of an English strong ale, but whatever, was really good and would definitely make a nice Winter sipper.

Rich brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head showing some nice off-white lacing. Aroma of bright fresh hops, light earth and a bunch of caramelised sugars. Medium-bodied; Nice rich caramel maltiness with hints of earth and mellow hop flavours with a crisp pine and light spruce spiciness. Aftertaste showing a good complexity with a great balance of hops, malt and spice. Overall, a nice beer for the season and to be honest - one that can be sampled at anytime! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods (Pearl) in Portland, Oregon on 06-December-2013 for US$4.99 sampled in my hotel room in Portland on 06-December-2013.

Bomber. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium tan head. A sweet nose of toffee, some raisins and fruit. Medium spices, especially clove, banana, some bitterness, citrus, cocoa, dark bitter chocolates. An interesting brew. Caramel, more bitterness. Pretty smooth and tasty.
