Bottle sampled in 2009. Dark brown almost black body with a rather small beige head. Very nice aroma of dark, roasted malt, chocolate, prunes and some light citric fruit. Flavor is sweet and roasted malt, dark chocolate, dry fruit and citric fruit with a good bitterness. Full body and a long and pleasant aftertaste of sweet roasted malt and fruity bitterness. Harmony and balance.

So, I’m not sure if this is a re-brew of a retired beer, in which case it should be aliased, or an annual release. I bought it from State Line in Elkton, MD on January 12, 2013. No markings of "Perfect Rudolf" on it, and no year either. Anyway, bottle. Almost black color, light brown head, solid lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, dark roast coffee. Taste is rich burnt caffe macchiaato. Good stuff.

Bottle thx to Niklas, 2010 edition, cons 2010-11-27 Sätila AR: roasted malt, sprity, melas AP: brownish mahogny, a bit reddish F. roasted malt, coffey, brown sugar, medium bitterness, medium carbonation: 3,4 - keep rating! Provdatum: 2008-12-12 Mahogny färgad näst intill obefintligt gräddbrunt skum (från 1/2 meter så går det att få till lite). Doftfattig men dessto mer smaktung. Rostat kaffe, mulberry tree, oljig koncistens. Eftersmaken bär men inte hela vägen, beskan lyser igenom, tyvärr för mycket.

Dark brown to black color. Light aroma, metallic, vanilla. Dry mouthfeel, with a sharp sourness from the roasted malt, dark caramel flavor, quite strong bitterness from the roasted malt too. It’s based only on the roasted malt, aggressive.

Bottle, thx to OleR. A clear, ruby beer with a lasting, finger-thick beige head. Roasted nose with chocolate, raisins and hops giving citrus scents. Orange mostly. Roasted, chocolatey flavor too, with notes of dried fruits, dark sugars, citrusy hops and a little bitterness. Full-bodied and sweet. Roasted finish with citrus and a nice bitterness. A quite lovely beer, maybe not the most Christmasy beer I’ve had, but lovely anyway. Nice with some cheese. (090501)
