Named after the patron saint of Glasgow and fellow brewer, this is our flagship Premium lager. St. Mungo is a traditional Bavarian 'Helles' lager, which makes for a complex yet very drinkable beer. Its natural carbonation and firm crisp taste perfectly counters its malty body.

330ml Bottle: BBD 7th May 14, poured into a Veltins badged stemmed tulip during a lager/pilsner tasting session with the wife, this was the last of the five beers we tried. Pale yellow to gold with a mini haze, the head pure white that started deep and even began to fade instantly before settling down as a wisp and collar. Mild aromas, mixed esters from both grassy hops and semi-sweet malty molasses: had to sniff deeply to find anything. The taste was a pleasant blend of lager-like flavours: malty front with a more bitter, dry hop finish. Nothing special about it, but better than all the mass produced beers around the world in this style. Nicely carbonated, appeared fresh and scored well compared to some on the night.

Dosc tresciwy lager. Przyjazny dla wegetarian. Tylko 3 skladniki zastosowane wg prawa czystosci "Reinheitsgebot". To w szkockim piwie wielka zaleta bo piwo jest w swoim gatunku smaczne tresciwe i z ladna spora gesta pianka.

Clear bright amber beer, good white head. Slightly soft palate. Reasonable caraway nutty malt, vaguely German like. Tiny bit of hop. Finishes semi dry. An okay lager.

Aroma: Clean but weak cereal aroma.

Appearance: Clear pale golden body with a loose white head. Average carbonation. Light lacing.

Taste: Roast malt and yeast flavours. Slightly nutty and vegetable notes. Quite a ’deep’, sweet flavour for a lager.

Palate: Thin body with a watery texture. Light carbonation.

Overall: One of the most flavoursome lagers I’ve tasted.

[Bottle that Dave shared with me - cheers!] Burnished gold with a slight white head and moderate fizz. There’s definitely more hops here than in a macro lager - some fresh leafiness and grass is evident. However, sweet honey malt dominates in a rather thin, watery body, and the end result is perhaps a little forgettable.

Keg @ The Burnbrae, Bearsden
Typical lager appearance, slight haze, bubbly white head.
Aroma - light cereal hop, light malts - more aroma than standard McPopsi Lager.
Taste of light biscuity malts, light bitter cereal hops, saaz in there? some sweet cloying malt.
Palate - fizzy, smooth, light bitter cereal hop finish, texture is a bit oily.
Better than standard lager but not fantastic - flavour improves when it warms up which is a good sign. Rather expensive at Β£4/pint.

bottle from Waitrose Sidmouth. Clear pale yellow, mid-sized white head. Basic lagher, grainy maltz flavours, shy hoppy touch. Quite nice, though.
