(On cask at Bryden’s, Oct 4, 2014) Pours a clear dark orange with a decent sized frothy cask head and a little lace. Aroma has a load of pumpkin pie spices and moderately sweet vanilla layered over a lightly sweet caramel malt base, spices are intense as expected on cask. Palate is a little watery, unfortunately. Light pale malt sweetness as a base, nutmeg/clove/allspice prominent, semisweet vanilla bean. Kind of gutless towards the finish with lingering spice and a vanilla undertone, not overly sweet or caramel-like but not the heft I’d like in the style either. Kind of watery, soft cask carb but not the creaminess I’d hope for. Decent pumpkin, nothing to write home about.
