(On tap at A Night with GLB and Amsterdam Brewery @ Bar Hop, Sept 19 2014) Medium orange, hazy, big whitish head with lots of lace. Nose has red grape/cherry, some sweet slightly caramel malt, light overtone of Brett horse blanket. Fairly sweet on the tongue actually, red grape, raspberry, faint barnyard type Brett, lightly woody on the finish with lots of that red wine fruit character lingering, a little smoky as it warms too, plus minerality lingering on the tongue. Body medium with mouth filling soft carb. Not really that saison like or particularly sour, but not sure it was supposed to be. It’s got lots of lovely wine and wood character from the barrel. Wasn’t what I expected but was a nice complex beer nonetheless.
