An easy-drinking sessionable pint, that leaves a satisfying malty warmth. This best bitter pours a rich amber with a creamy off-white head. Aromas of malty, caramel, biscuit and toffee are complemented by subtle floral hops. The taste is smooth and malty with a touch of nuttiness, balanced by a gentle bitterness from English hop. A hint of dried fruit and spice adds complexity.

Hand pulled pint at the brewery bar (Red Lion) on 5th February 2026. Amber body, also white crown on top. Malty Best Bitter with a decent hop bitterness in the finish. I must say the new 'Head Brewer' is doing a good job at Joules.

Cask at Rose & Crown, Stafford. Pours “bitter brown” with a medium sized foamy off-white head and good lacing. Slow to settle but does so eventually. Malts to the fore in the aroma, plus hints of yeast and almonds. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a creamy texture and malts, caramel and traces of autumn fruits. Sweetness lasts into the finish. This is OK, but it’s extremely bland.
