Ever so slightly hazy copper and buttered bronze coloured body, with a thick three centimetre tall tan head that stays afloat for a while. Aroma of alcohol, resin, pine, flowers, grass and a good support of malt - seemingly well balanced, with some candy sugar in the nose as well. Medium-bodied; Deep robust orange and light tropical fruit notes dominate, especially with a sweet flavour, but also some robust notes and a pungent, deep hoppy characteristic, with a large malt backbone that shows biscuits and bread, but the resinous and super pungent and astringent alcohol shows above everything and is quite strong - especially at the end. Aftertaste is robust and pungent, deeply hoppy, bitter, sweet and showing a lot of character - the oranges, citrus and tropical fruits are a nice elixir to the alcohol and bitterness of the astringency of this. Overall, a fairly nice Imperial IPA. It's strong, but it should be (for the style) and shows nicely with fruits, bitterness and balance! Good to try if you can find it! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 12-June-2020 for US$5,03 sampled at my house here in Washington on 02-July-2020 after returning from South Dakota.
