A European style lager brewed from the finest quality pilsner malts. This beer is fermented at a lower temperature than most Australian lagers, and employs an extended maturation period. These combine together with a mixture of kettle and late hopping to yield a crisp pale lager.

This might be the best beer I tried during a recent trip to Australia. One of the few to escape the metallic aftertaste so endemic to so many Australian lagers. Maybe that’s because it comes from Tasmania and not Victoria? Nice golden color with a thick white head. Hoppy, malty aroma. Crisp and dry finish. My favorite Australian "bitter."

37.5 cL bottle. Pours clear and pale yellow with a small white head. Smooth malty and slight earthy hops aroma. Smooth hoppy base flavour with a mild fruityness and a light caramel to biscuit malt sweetness. Medium bitterness and light sweetness into the finish. Clean and classic pale lager.

Most tasted beer from boag is a pale lager, overall nothing more than good cheap american lagers. I was expecting something special from the start for the price and, the fact it is an upper class pale lager. Alright beer aroma but is a tad sharp on the veggie side, if you know what I mean. Good, kinda frendly, initial carbonation and tongue fizz. Fizz yeilds to a short lager last. Fairly easy to knock back. Each sip ends with this, ’I want to say pilsner’, sharp short lager finish. Perhaps more personality, but, on the lighter side of offensive personality, than a lager lover may care for. Leaves another type of processed flavor not popular with american lagers.

Bottle. Poured pale gold with thick white head. Sweet malt aroma, with a slight mediciney note. Flat flavour, a little malt, a little hop. but not enough. Flat finish, more mediciney notes and some bitterness.

Bottle. Nice grassy hop aroma. Brassy color with a decent white head. Near medium body with fizzy carbonation. The post fizz flavor is grainy, and there doesn’t seem to be enough hop. Crisp and refreshing. Oh so much better than American macros. However, there’s two much graininess and not enough hop. Pretty decent for a pale lager though.

Super clear golden coloured body with a super thin white head. Aroma of skunky malt, light hops, a small amount of sugar and some metal too. Light-bodied; Sharp cardboardy taste with metal and stale malt the most common. Aftertaste shows some nuts and more malt - not a drop of hops noticeable in the taste. Overall, a fairly bad offering - even if it is from Tasmania, definitely not worth trying. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle given to me, purchased from World Market in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 17-December-2007.
