Deep, super dark brown coloured body with a thinnish single centimetre tall rich brown head. Aroma of quite pungent star anise, nutmeg, chocolate, coffee, earth, nuts, oatmeal and a dose of metal. Medium-bodied; Astringent flavours of metal and grain noticeable at first with a pungent earthy and nutty finish showing some coffee, oatmeal, chocolate, anise, nutmeg and caramelised sugars all very strongly, but some residual punch from alcohol and vanilla add to the complexity here with a decidedly complex and bitter finish, mainly from the malts, but also from the chocolate. Aftertaste is deep and very bittering with the vanilla and caramel to offset the punch, while some alcohol and oats still make this a bit long in flavours with the ever-so-slightest notion of canella on the end. Overall, a good enough Porter with some solid Spicey flavours, but a dry, grainy finish that makes this enjoyable and much more flavourful than an Irish Stout, but just as dry. I sampled this sixteen ounce pour on draught from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 20-May-2019 for US$5,00.

Burned coffee nose. Black, thin tan head. Charred oak, whiff of DMS underneath. Medium body, easy carbonation.
