Mac’s Gold is the talisman of the Mac’s family, an all malt lager brewed naturally with hints of citrus and sweet malts. Mac’s Gold is the First, the Original, the Supreme naturally brewed all malt lager unbroken and therefore unfixed since 1983. It’s remained ahead of the curve, at the bleeding edge (or whatever other piece of metaphorical excess is fashionable this week) thanks to its delicate caramel sweetness and crisp, clean aftertaste. Connoisseurs will note that the mid-palate bitterness and hints of citrus have not been tinkered with.

Second rating: Straw colour. Fresh grassy nose with breezy malt notes and a hint of mint. Fresh, light malt character, very slight hop character. Quick and vaguely refreshing.
Original rating: Clear golden with a light sparkle. Quite metallic in the nose with some bread notes. On the palate it’s got hints of bread and a light mushroomy character. Actually decent as macrobrews go. Ar 5 Ap 2 F 4 P 2 O 9 = 2.2

(Bottle 33,5 cl) McCashin’s, a small and proundly independent brewery situated in the middle of the hop growing area in NZ around Nelson. Pale golden, with quite a decent head. Fairly classical lager type with a nice hop-bite. Surprisingly full body considering the low alcohol. 270603 (On tap) Courtesy of yalnikim. Clear, pale golden with a small, white head. Lightly sweet, malty nose. Medium body with notes of malt, brewing cereal and fruit. Dry finish. In the better end of NZ Pale Lagers, yet still just a Pale Lager though. 4/2/4/2/8=2.0 310108

Bottled. Pale golden, Brief papery aroma. Dry yet fruity. The falvour is extremely short which leaves a vacuum behind it along with a stinging metallic feeling on your tongue, and a wish for a beer to wash it all down.

A golden beer with a fine but fast disappearing head. The aroma is malty sweet , but a simple pilsener aroma. The flavor is a weird artificial malty one - dry but not very carbonated. It ends on an OK bitterness. A really boring lager.
