My bottle clearly states 14.0% abv! Opaque black beer, massive pale tan head. Slightly crisp palate, airy. Another Frankenstein beer from Pitfield! A roast malt base with a little lactose. Fair bit of bretty sourness. Brief dusty note. Finishes with a fair bit of aggressive hop bitterness with a little citrus. Lingering bitter aftertaste, Interesting, not tasted anything quite like this before except maybe the FV15. Age has calmed the alcohol down but it’s still full on.

Bottled. Deep amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is hops, sweet malts, alcohol and also has some quite bready notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with some yeasty and earthy notes. Mild roasted notes and coffee too.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thick tan head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, fruit, alcohol, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of wood, over ripe fruits, and, malt, leading to a tart woody finish.

Bottle, thx to KnutAlbert. A clear, dark brown beer with a nice, beige head. The aroma is definately on the malty side, with dried fruits, some beef-stock and alcohol. Not much hoppy going on. The flavor has well-hidden alcohol, else it’s mostly dried fruits, beef-stock notes and general maltyness. Surprisingly thin on the palate, with some mineralic notes. Alcohol and bitterness in the finish. A strange one, thin, strong and quite sweet. If I remember correctly, the label said 14% ABV. That don’t seem correct, but it sure was alcoholic. (081215)

Bottle at Chris o New Year tasting 08/09. None of us could believe that this was labelled at 14$, but it was. Didn’t drink like a 14% beer so perhaps the 8.2% on this is right. Pretty decent choccy beer. Grainyness in the mouth, fullness and it was very drinkable.
