Another one in the second generation of Black Damnations, this one aged on Wilson & Morgan whisky barrels, bottle from Dranken De Moor in Haasdonk, bottle 1695 out of 2000. Irregular, moussy, yellowish beige, opening and thin head on a black beer with hazy mahogany edges. Aroma strongly drenched in actual whisky odours, cold Irish coffee, hard caramel candy, old fondant chocolate, walnut oil, glue, dried prunes, salmiak, oyster mushrooms, cured meat, 'Haagse hopjes', dried bacon, black olives. Sweet candied fig- and blackberry-ish onset with a light, dried porcini-like umami edge and a sourish undertone of roasted grains; soft carb, thick and viscous, oily mouthfeel. Deeply nutty maltiness, toasted walnuts, black chocolate with a smoky whisky note early on; descends into a very toasty and caramelly finish which is thoroughly drenched in whisky, including a lot of boozy alcohol but actual whisky flavour as well - the combination of which with the coffeeish features of the roasted malt remind me, again, of cold Irish coffee. Intense, thick and very rich beer like all these Black Damnations, lovely bittersweet but perhaps a bit too overly alcoholic in the finish for me, and in that sense perhaps not the most refined one in this series.
