Award winning Mad Goose is a zesty pale ale with a refreshing citrus finish, inspired by our own fearsome feathered friend. Her hiss was far worse than her bite except around mating season when it was best to stay inside for another well earnt beer.

Sampled @ GBBF day 2. Clear dark orange color, small to average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, a slight touch of hops, lightly a sweetish fruitiness, lightly bitter. Average body and carbonation.

(Cask at Edgar Wallace, Strand, London, 8 Apr 2014) Golden amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with apricots, orange peel and fresh hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, orange, soft chewy malt and fresh floral hops in a finish with a certain bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Fresh and tasty. Nice one.

Cask @ Southwestern Arms, Southampton. Dark gold or light copper, take your pick. Perfume aroma. Roses and gardenias. Taste starts alarmingly sweet, so the bitter aftertaste and finish are particularly welcome. Full but slightly oily mouthfeel. Personally I’m not overly keen, but there’s no denying that it’s a well-crafted recipe.

Cask(@Queen’s Arms, Kensington): Deep golden, hazy, stable small White head, moderate spicy, almost a bit piney, hoppy nose with the usual fruity-malty Background; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, rather light bodied; lingering, lingering dry hoppy finish with a solid fruitiness. A bit thin, but still a nice one...
