Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double malt beer produced using 100% high quality barley malt. This gives it a full, caramelised malt flavour and an intense aroma of roasted malt. Its distinctive amber colour originates from the type of malt used when brewing, a special malt which is dried and roasted.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear dark red-brown. No head. Aromas are toffee, malty, sweet. Taste is sweet too, light herbal note. Not a lot going on, but not bad. Perhaps a bit too sweet at the end.

330 ml bottle. Pours a deep reddish brown color with a dense creamy beige head. Sharp, fruity toasted malt nose with notes of caramel and toasted walnuts. Upfront, sweet toasted malt has notes of brown bread and dried fruit. Later on, there is a chewy, wine-like character with obvious notes of alcohol. Some spicy resiny hops in finish. Overall, very full-bodied and flavorful and reminiscent of the Bavarian Doppelbock style.

This was a positive surprise, I expected something less good! Nice colour, brown with red shine, and beige medium head. Smell is malty, and the taste is nice, malt, and fruity, cherry sure, than toffee too. Nice.

--> 11+10+9+11 = 10,63

Aroma is very malty with a lot of toasted bread, light caramel and toffee. Some fruit notes that seem more from the malt than the yeast - cherry, plum and raisin. No hop aroma or deacetylated. Faint hint of chocolate as it warms. Pours a clear, very dark amber with a moderately thick light tan head that shows good retention. Medium light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is fairly sweet and malty. Lots of toasted bread, caramel and toffee. The flavor and aroma both reminds me of the smell of a boil over when I am brewing. Medium light bitterness. Medium light raison, cherry and plum notes. Hints of light chocolate. Light roast and toasted bread notes liner in the finish with some sweet cherry and plum along with the bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a surprisingly decent beer. I remembered liking this beer before I really got into beer and it’s good to see I had at least decent rate before I really stayed geeking out on beer. The malt character does well with the fruit notes.

Bottle, 7.2%. Citric and vinous aroma, some ash. Clear brown colour. Stable off-white head. The flavour is malty with a little unclean cardboard. Caramelly finish with a slightly rough bitterness. Does not taste 7.2%. Good, but I would have expected more from that ABV.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and hops with notes of fruit and caramel. Bitter, roasty onset, giving way to sweetish, malty and caramellish notes and hoppy touches. Sweetish aftertaste. Quite OK. Tastes less of alcohol than the ABV stated on the label.

Bottle. Slightly sweet fruit caramel malt and toast aroma. Clear deep amber with a large dense creamy beige head. Sweet fruity caramel and toasty malt flavor with a subtle bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. A bit sweet for my personal taste.

330ml tap in Murano island, Italy 18.05.13. Dark amber reddish body and no head. Caramel and prune aroma, maybee some tiramisu. It was a warm day in Murano, after a beautiful boat ride in a packed boat and browsing about 100 different fabrics, show rooms and small shops selling glass it was refreshing and a great thirst quencher.
