Pours hazy brown/dark amber with a lasting, small, foamy, tan head. The aroma contains caramel, banana, yeast, (salty) licorice, candied fruits, herbs and - weirdly - something that reminds me of Coca-Cola. It tastes medium licorice-like sweet and light to medium herbal bitter; dry, spicy, finish, lingering but soft hints of sweetness and some warming alcohol. Medium body, slick/creamy texture, soft carbonation. Nice, but it's a traditional holiday with this one.

Bottle from Harvest Market Slightly hazy deep copper color with a decent sized tightly bubbled off white head. Lots of spice atop a rich dark fruity melanoid light toasty maltiness. Nice little sipper.

33 cl bottle served in Villeroy & Boch white wine glass. Gusher! It pours dark, cloudy, ruby red to mahogany, big sediment. Tan to off-grey bubbly head that disappears quickly but leaves a long-lasting thin layer. Aroma is quite intense, but limited: cinnamon, cherry, raspberry. Mouth is rather dry, fizzy, not too fresh on the sourness side but strong on the booze one. Finishes quite bitter, alcoholic and very conifery (spruce and Spanish cedar, but not pine.)

75cl Bottle, bought in Brussels. Red amber-brown colour, beige head. Aroma of cardamom, gale, coriander seed, brown sugar. Flavour is spicy, cardamom, gale, clove, brown sugar, alcohol, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Even for me this is too spicy.

Frothy beige head soon left a skim on dark brown, very active body. Big aroma of candied fruit, demerara & orange peel.. Medium bodied, thinning to the back leaving a watery feel. Clean on the aft. Very spicy tastes of candied fruit, orange, clove, menthol, licorice & a herbal finish.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Slight hazy redbrown color with small chunks, short frothy head. Aroma of quite some spices like clove and cardamom, some toffee and butterscotch. Very spicy in taste as well, some caramel sweetness. Reasonably well balanced, although it could be a bit softer for me. Decent beer.

750ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, dark ruby-mahogany colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Malty and slightly spicy aroma, hints of ginger, cinnamon, aniseed. Taste is minimally sweet malty, slightly spicy, hints of ginger, cinnamon, and aniseed, a touch of orange peel, bitter hoppy counterweight. Well balanced, mild spiciness.

F: big, creamy, light tanned, average retention. C: dark coppery light hazy. A: malty, mellow fruity, bit coriander, liquorice, bit dried fruits, marmalade, bit herbal. T: malty, caramel sweet mellow fruity, different spices, syrupy sweet, dried fruits, bit toffee, full body but too much spicy sweetness, enjoyed as a Trappist beer from another continent, lower carbonation, 75cl bottle from Cora Woluwe-Saint-Lambert in Brussels.
