(On tap at the GL tap takeover at The Wren, July 31 2014) Pours inky black with a pale brown head and lots of lace. Aroma very strong, black licorice/anise, dark chocolate, slightly wintergreen?, bit of roast too. On the palate it is just a huge kick of flavour, loads of dark chocolate with a fair amount of licorice/ouzo/anise, again a bit of fresh greenness to it, roast fairly restrained, nice moderate bitterness to the finish but all the flavour elements linger for ages. Mouthfeel quite full, rich, carb fairly soft. This is a big rich beer, flavours are all bold and highly concentrated. Someone who hates black licorice would hate this. I loved it. Way too easy to drink as a full pint at this ABV.
