(Draught at BarHop, Sept 19 2013) Poured pitch black, a mid-sized head of brown cream. Aroma is densely malty, chocolate/cocoa, roast, sweet. Flavour is really rich malt at first, toffee and roast and bittersweet chocolate, but builds a bit of an edge mid-palate, becoming more earthy, peppery hops, bit of a salty tang to fight the sweetness, roast/hop bitterness builds towards the end with a dark fruit character to the malt. Mouthfeel is full and viscous, syrupy, carbonation quite soft. Massive beer, intense and mouthfilling. It might almost be too much, but I could drink it after dessert instead of a double espresso.
