Since Day One, we've been abundantly forthright and fully transparent about our lust for hops. It's led us to craft many an IPA, most of them imperial—some intense for their time and all timeless in their intensity. For Stone Go To IPA, we embrace our hop obsession in a new way, funneling an abundance of lupulin-borne bitterness into a session IPA that delivers all the fruity, piney character of a much bigger IPA. To accomplish this, we employ hop bursting, a technique wherein an irrational amount of hops is added during the final phase of the brewing process to bring out extreme flavors and aromas while also imparting a burst of desirably pleasant bitterness. The result is an alpha-acid-rich beer that fans can enjoy more of without missing out on the assertive hop character you, like us, crave. So, sit back and go two with your new everyday go-to IPA and bask along with us in the glory of the almighty hop.

This beer employed the hop-bursting technique, which in essence is a hopping method where all or most of the bitterness in the beer comes from late hop additions in the brewhouse, like at the end of boil and in the whirlpool, instead of the more traditional approach where most of the hop bitterness comes from earlier additions at the start of the kettle boil. The result is a beautifully aromatic beer with substantial but somewhat mellow bitterness. Hop bursting also enhances the flavor retention of the hops, and combined with the dry hop, creates a very intense and complex hop flavor.

473ml can. Pours bright orange with a fluffy white head. Synthetic orange, melon, lemon peel, pineapple, mango, touch of minerally stuff at the end. Medium body. Smells good but the flavour falls away a bit at the end. Not bad.

Can. Stone Berlin. Slightly cloudy yellow/gold with shades of orange. Impressive white head. Aroma of passion fruit, mango, grapefruit and grass. Taste is piney and fruity with a long lasting bitter aftertaste. Very balanced. Slim body but not watery by any means. Medium carbonation. I'm not the world's biggest fan of Session IPA's but this one was really satisfying. Will drink again.

Berlin version, 0,33l can from Stockmann, Tallinn. Pours lightly hazy yellow, some white foam on top, hangs around for quite awhile. Nose has hops, some wastewater (I guess it happens with thinner body and loads of hop skunk), and lots of hops. Taste has mainly bitterness. Quite refreshing in a way but not really balanced, just relatively harsh bitterness throughout the drinking experience. Not really enjoying this as much as I should.

33cl can from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Shared with Anke.
Pours clear orange with a small, frothy, off-white head; hazy with the sediment, some floaties. Fresh aroma of peach, mango, orange, grapefruit, apricot, some pine & spruce, hint of cheese. It tastes light to medium fruity sweet, apricot & peach in the back, and medium to heavy hoppy bitter, hint of pine & resin but not too much. Building up towards a dry, bitter, hoppy finish, piney & slightly peppery, yet quenching. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. So balanced, so good, I'd take this out of the fridge at Geers anytime.

Canned May 2nd so it's all kind of fresh.

So, here we have another so called Session IPA. Most I have tried were lacking in balance, typical of the sub style.

I opened the can and yep, that smell of a Session IPA is there in spades.

Somewhat tropical nose, grapefruit, nary a malt aroma to be had.

The taste is fairly bitter, grapefruit, hints of tropical fruit..pineapple, mango buried fairly deep, cracker malt buried even deeper.

Light bodied with lively carbonation, nah, more like thin bodied but not watery.

Nice lowish abv but I'll be danged if I can drink 2 "pints" back to back.
