(Draught at The Alibi Room GLB Tap Takeover, Kingston ON, Jan 17 2013) Poured a hazy brown with an inch of whitish head, lots of lacing. Aroma is hop resin, caramel, grapefruit pith - very hoppy but not very fruity. Palate had a bit of pit fruit early as it warmed, probably a combination of caramel malt and hops. Otherwise a bracingly bitter hopshake with pine resin throughout, boozy on the finish, huge bitterness overwhelming almost all else. Palate is creamy and full, carb low with a hot finish. A hop bomb for sure, but not very complex and a little brutal, should not have been my first beer of the night as I was chugging water to regain some semblance of a palate! I prefer my DIPAs a lot fruitier.
