Radlers were invented in Germany a century ago and are still very popular - in fact their popularity has only increased in recent years, which lead the Low Countries to adopt them as well some years ago (a trend now broken by the rapid evolutionary radiation of non-alcoholic beers); they are basically just a blend of some standard beer with lemonade and for me they never really added anything to beer evolution, but I could not resist tasting at least one during my Bavarian holiday - so thanks to my girlfriend for sharing this particular one. Snow white, open and loose, dissolving ring of foam on a clear pale yellow blonde robe with yellow-greenish tinge. Aroma of Sprite or 7Up lemonade, sweaty grains, sugared lemon juice, bath soap, hints of dust and grass. White-sugary, artificial onset, very reminiscent of Sprite again but far less harshly carbonated; this industrial lemonade aspect remains till the end, its sweetness sticking to the teeth. Meanwhile a very thin, slick graininess appears underneath, with a dusty touch in the end and even a very faint and brief whiff of grassy hops; an aspartame-ish bitterishness shows up in the background, but it is the sugariness and lemonade flavour that literally stick. A very typical present-day Radler indeed - absolutely not for me, but I guess I knew what I had coming...

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Clear pale golden, mid sized head. Aroma of artificial lemonade and bread. Very sweet with light body and rounded mouthfeel. Bready with plenty of butter and saccharine laden lemon squash. No bitterness.

Bottle (from Alko Keskusta Vaasa). Yellow colour, small white foamy head. Aroma is citrus, lemon, mild grainy and herbal tones. Flavour is lemon, some bready malts, mild herbal and earthy tones. More harsh than nice.

A light yellow and clear beer, a head is small and white. Aroma has citrus and very light maltyness, so mild. Taste has citrus and sweet maltyness. Medium bodied. Too sweet, needed even higher carbonation. Quite bad.

Bottle looks simple and very much like a cheap beer. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, fruity like lemon, modest sweet. Finish well balanced, still mild. All in all not very "beery". Average.

Bottle 50 cl. Clear, pale golden with a tiny, off-white head. Weak aroma of lemon. Thin, flat and extremely artificial with very sweet - yet discreet - lemon accents and a hint of cardboard. 291108

Bottle, 2.7%. Citric lemonade aroma. The flavour is also lemonade. Seems a little aspartamish in the finish. Ends dry. Not so good.

Bottled. A light golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by lemon. The flavor is very sweet with strong citrus notes, but also some artificial sweetener.
