500ml can as Pripps Blå Julöl III from Systembolaget Kiruna, kindly brought to Tromsø by djoeye. Clear copper coloured body to an-off-white head quickly reduced to a filmy layer. Minimal lacing. Mild brown malty nose. More burnt than roasted caramel to the taste buds, some moderate impact of dried fruits to the ending with vague hints of cardboard. Medium bodied. Easy to drink. Unvaried, but not that bad (shared with Frau Eva, Tromsø 25.12.2014).

Mørk orangebrun klar med fingerhøyt beige skum. Lukter kandissukker og malt. Smaker sukkersøtt med en tanke bittersøt brent sukker. Kort.

50cl can from Systembolaget, Strömstad. Pours clear mahogany with a tan head. Malty and caramelly aroma with just hints of roast and hops. Fairly sweet and caramelly with some almost sourish and metallic notes. Quite similar to lots of Norwegian shop strength Christmas beer. Hardly impressive, best to avoid, but drinkable if one has to to.

Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget in October 2012. (labeled as Pripps Blå Jul) Clear copper with a small white head. Sweet with caramel, malt and some dark bread. Drinkable but not exciting at all.

Sample at a tasting at Systembolaget in October 2012. I am not sure if this is the same beer as Pripps Julöl, but with a new name? Clear copper with a small white head. Sweet with caramel, malt and some dark bread. Drinkable but not exciting at all.

Tut nicht Not! 8/6/5/5/7/4

Can 50 cl at home from SB cons 2010-11-18 AR: white bread, some hops, sugar AP: black with a reddish tone, high fluffy beige head disappering slowly F: roasted malt, melas, dry finish, not god not bad. I guess this would be perfect for the christmas table. Not as a starter not as a desert beer.

500 ml brown bottle, as Pripps Jul, from Systembolaget post-Christmas 2009. ABV is 5.0%. Mahogany coloured beer, big off-white beige head. Sweetish fruity aroma, also notes of caramel malts, hints of Christmas spices. The flavour has notes of münchener and caramel malts, baked goods, sweet and slightly spicy, also with a certain fruitiness. Very moderate hops in the finish. Overall surprisingly decent for a beer from Pripps / Carlsberg Sweden.
