25th May 2015: shared a draught one with the wife in the Irvine Yard House. looked fine, golden with a full head of smooth foam. Creamy and smooth feel to the brew, but very little aroma or taste: some hops maybe but not much of anything. Only bought it for the rate to be honest: It is one of the most higly rated beers I had not drank until today. I do remember the original Boddingtons Bitter from Strangeways, Manchester, this is nothing like that old cask brew.

Old rating. Can from Old Town. Pours an amber color with nice creamy head do to the nitro action. Malts and caramel on the nose. Mildly bitter inoffensive beer.

[2/16/15] Draught at Cameron’s Inn in Half Moon Bay. Clear amber. Aroma of caramel and graininess. Weak flavor, a bit grainy, a bit caramelly, with light bitterness. Light-bodied.

Can thanks to Dohny. Sweet honeyish malty aroma, clear deep golden colour. Taste has earthy vegetables and metallic finish. Astringent. Bad.

Mousse superbe, effervescence plus que timide dans un produit très sucré. Rien de marquant mais pas désagréable...

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a gentle hazy orange to brown color with a one finger soft white foamy head that once it dissipated there was some really nice soapy clingy lacing gracing the sides of the glass.
The smell had a nice English maltiness (construed to some as being \"soapy\") but if anything I understand it to be the English malts aligning themselves with the fuggles hops. So, eventually, a decent sweet toffee with a light caramel does come out.
The taste was mainly sweet with a toasty edge to it. Light toffee comes forth and spreads out around my taste buds.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body and rolls really smooth all around.
Overall, mmmm...great bitter well worthy of having again. Pass the fish n ’ chips!
