Hazy amber beer. Semi soft palate but with a carbonated sting. Lightly creamy malt. Blooming sharp bitter marmaladey hops. The bitterness lasts well in to the aftertaste. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bachelor Bitter on 18 Aug 2015 at 12:29 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. GBBF Day 4. Cask. Clear gold - amber beer, a few pale cream colour bubbles. Palate is light with decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts. A little sweet bubblegum ester. Big spicy orange. Light hop spicy finish. Nice bitter!

On tap at the Portland location (amazingly, this was in the database, somehow the do tons of one-offs at Deschutes. Man, I would get 100 ratings a year from this place if I was local). Pours a light amber color with a medium white head. A crisp nose of hops and dry leaves. A rich flavor of caramel and some bitter hops. Very fresh and clean. Tasty.

Tap at Portland location - quite a traditional bitter - semi-dry, straddles the line between Biscuity and doughy - earthy hop flavor but low bitterness - light buttery notes - mild hard water, mineral character - easy drinking.

12 oz. bottle, pours a mostly clear coppery amber with an off-white head. Subtle nose of nuts, toffee, English malts and light hops. Flavour is fairly underwhelming, with nuts and toffee in the front, finishing with slightly caramely malts and a light hop character. Light body and palate, with not much going on. Decent, but uninteresting.

Clear amber color, small off-white head. Flowery, ryeish, English hoppy aroma. Light to medium bodied. Lemon zesty, flowery hoppyness. Late bitterness. Quite English it is and ok beer.

From cask. Pours clear and golden deep amber with a bubble white head. Aroma is mild hoppy and fruity. Sweet and wooden malty, caramelish, slight breadish. Bitter and dry into a mild wooden and flat caramelish malt finish.

Bottle from Ben (aka SuzyG...). Pours amber with a foamy 4 finger beige head. Aroma is floral over mildly roasted caramel. Medium body; pretty foamy carbonation. It is hoppy. Floral, not harsh or super bitter. It’s very hoppy. The guys over the pond might die, but I think this is the way ESB should be. Been looking for this for a long time. Worth the wait. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bachelor Bitter on 21 May 2025 at 01:35 - Score: Appearance - 7 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 9 | Overall - 9. Original review text: Cask at the Portland venue. Pours hazy brown with a large foamy beige head that laced. Aroma is floral and light toffee. Med lush body/tecture. Malty but not sweet. Moderately bitter. Great cask ale.
