reDANKulous Imperial Red IPA is a no frills, bold 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale. It pours a pleasing burnt amber with some sweetness due to the Caramalt and roasted barley used in the malt bill. But hops are the true headliner in this elaborate sensory experience. The spicy, piney, tropical complexities of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops hit you right away with their dank aroma—and they stick around. Take a sip to have your palate simultaneously walloped and caressed in all the right places. Combined, the hops take the beer to 90 IBUs. It’s not just ridiculous. It’s reDANKulous.

On tap @ Holy Craft, Düsseldorf. Smooth mild beginning. Lots of malt, very dry. Dry red malt, fruity fresh with a dry bitter ending. Nice.

355ml bottle from Chez Sophie. Pours ruby, large off-white head. Aroma of marmalade malt, grapefruit. Taste continues with lots of sticky malt, chewy resin, pine, marmalade.. fairly sweet, rich and boozy.

Draft @ Beavertown Extravaganza'17. Cuivrée, col fin blanc-cassé. Arôme au bouquet centré sur le malté, houblonné US c-hops, peu huileux et agrumes, notes fines de fruits rouges en rétro. Palais est malté, pâle caramel, pointe d'épicée, profil red ale? Malt rappelant un style UK. Qcq éléments agrumes avec une note de caramel, sec, résineux sur la fin - chinook? classique US, correcte dans la lignée Founders.

(thanks for sharing!) Sampled draft @ The Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. Day 1. Dark red amber. Nose is think syrupy pine resin, bread, diesel, lovely onion. Taste is thick cereal, pine resin, herbal, diesel hop, very lovely. Thick pine resin, malty body.

Tap. Super nice deep amber copper color with tan head. Aroma is super dank, toffee, piney, resinous. Taste is the same, with a boozy warming finish. Oily mouthfeel. Very well made.

Bottle. Clear copper with a tall, lasting cream colored head. Aroma of resiny hops and sweet malt. The flavor is a mixed up mess of resiny bitterness, cloying malt sweetness,and a big dryness. Tastes like a fresh Arrogant Bastard. Coarse hops.

Tap. Reddish, relatively clear, some foam. Aroma is hoppy and resiny, some red rowan character there as well. Tastes hoppy, strong body balanced with bitterness - but not really balanced that great. Quite heavy and harsh on the palate. Alcohol not really hidden, booze bitterness playing a big part in overall impression. Still, I kind of like the style but at the same time am happy that I only had half pint of it.

Bottle. Deep amber color with a large beige head. Aroma is rich with caramel sweetness and tons hop dank hop florals. A very inviting smell. Tastes sweet and moderately bitter. Lots of caramel malts, more dank hops. Citrus and a little woody. Piney hops. Very nice.
