reDANKulous Imperial Red IPA is a no frills, bold 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale. It pours a pleasing burnt amber with some sweetness due to the Caramalt and roasted barley used in the malt bill. But hops are the true headliner in this elaborate sensory experience. The spicy, piney, tropical complexities of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops hit you right away with their dank aroma—and they stick around. Take a sip to have your palate simultaneously walloped and caressed in all the right places. Combined, the hops take the beer to 90 IBUs. It’s not just ridiculous. It’s reDANKulous.

Bottle at home. Pours a dark copper with a sizeable head, medium retention. Aroma is lovely, good sweet malt base, caramel, some roasted barley. Complemented by loads of West coast hops. Somewhat fruity, but mostly pine and spice centred hoppiness. Herbal-earthy blueberry touch of mosaic seems noticeable to me. Not surprisingly a big bodied beer. Flavour is therefore rather sweet; caramel is very forwarded and the roasted barley gives it an interesting burnt note. Rather bitter, very hoppy. Pine again very forward, but also a bit fruity, rather herbal and spicy. Finishes long, bitter and burnt, caramelly. Excellent, red Imperial IPA works well (at least if done by founders). I like the burnt touch from the roasted barley a lot.

Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat. Hazy amber body with a thick beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of toffee apple, blood orange and stewed tea. Flavour of honey and liquorice root. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. I enjoyed this, but having read the description, I expected more of a hoppy hit.

Bottle. Pours misty deep amber to bronze colour. Dense and long-living off-white head. Aroma: a blend of solid caramel & toast malts, honey, bright hops revealing dankness, resin & tropical fruit. Medium to full body. Powerful palate. Perfectly balanced malt & hop. Caeamel, toast, fruit, grapefruit, resin. Vinous. Medium bitter. Tasty. Very tasty.

On tap at Leeds International Beer Festival, 2017. Pours dark amber to brown with off-white head. Some pine, ripe fruit, spices, bit sugary, but mostly huge caramel. Sweet with moderate bitterness in finish. Soft carbonation. Medium to full bodied. Since I'm having a problem with caramel lately, didn't like this, had trouble finishing the beer.
