reDANKulous Imperial Red IPA is a no frills, bold 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale. It pours a pleasing burnt amber with some sweetness due to the Caramalt and roasted barley used in the malt bill. But hops are the true headliner in this elaborate sensory experience. The spicy, piney, tropical complexities of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops hit you right away with their dank aroma—and they stick around. Bottle from Boxbeer via Shaun cheers mate; dark brown pour with a big fluffy beige head, aroma has sweet caramel, grapefruit and some dank pine, taste has sweet malts, some spice, hints of pine, marmalade, spice, bitter finish.

A dark orange, even red beer. A head is medium and blond. Aroma has strong caramel with balancing pine and resin, also peaches and tropical notes. Taste has caramelly body, quite strong bitterness, pine and also resin the end. Almost full bodied, not stickyness. A great beer, strong caramel and hops, but balanced.

(Keg at Kaisla, 20160909) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had pine, creamy toffee and caramel. Palate was medium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, pine, caramel, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty and bitter. A nice hoppy amber ale but nothing special.

Bottle @ Boxbeers. Pours copper reddish with a creamy white head. Chewy malty caramel and bread and tropical hops. Juicy and dry. Bitter. Full bodied. Quite enjoyable. US strong ale.

Bottle, bb 1/17. Brown with a pale beige head that never quite disappears. Aroma of tropical fruit, toffee, pine, some zesty citrus floats over the top. Sweet with sticky bread crusts outmatched by over-ripe tropical and caramelised stone fruit. The pine and some light spices are useful in stopping this becoming a sweet mess and they choke things off well enough towards the quite bitter end. Some burnt grain notes there too. Strong hoppy amber that’s just about fun enough once but not the sort of 9.5% beer I’d bother with again.

From a 355ml bottle on 30/8/2016. Pours a deep reddybrown with a small to medium head. The aroma is fruity, with some caramel and biscuit in the mix. Taste wise, you get lots of caramel malt and sweet stone fruit, with notable dashes of nuts and spice. The bitterness hits hard - lingering and dry, and a touch salty, providing a powerful end to some nicely integrated flavours. The palate is a touch creamy and the carbonation moderate. An impressive brew.

Mahognifarget klar med høyt beige skum. Lukter kraftig av modne frukter, sydhavsfrukt og lett brent karamell. Fyldig. Mye bitterhet og sødme. Sitrusskall, kandis, brent karamell, alkohol, sydhavsfrukter, plommer, toast og rosiner. Alkoholen og bitterheten sitter lenge.

Bottle from systembolaget. Pours red amber. Aroma of fudge, alcohol and a little chocolate. Lots of alcohol, red berries and some dark fruits.
