reDANKulous Imperial Red IPA is a no frills, bold 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale. It pours a pleasing burnt amber with some sweetness due to the Caramalt and roasted barley used in the malt bill. But hops are the true headliner in this elaborate sensory experience. The spicy, piney, tropical complexities of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops hit you right away with their dank aroma—and they stick around. Take a sip to have your palate simultaneously walloped and caressed in all the right places. Combined, the hops take the beer to 90 IBUs. It’s not just ridiculous. It’s reDANKulous.

20.08.2016, 12 oz bottle @ Glød:
Big fizzy-creamy longlasting head, nice reddish amber color. Aroma is slightly fresh and sweet grassy, leafs, caramel malts, wet grass, wet hops, moss, minerals, pine needles, bark, alcohol, hints of citrus peel. Taste is slightly dry and harsh grassy, weeds, minerals, alcohol, leafs, bark, harsh hops, pine needles, moss, lawn, minerals, hay, soil, paper, hints of metal tank. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly harsh mineraly mouthfeel. Fair enough, too harsh and bitter taste.

King’s Head. Keg. Clear deep amber beer, thin cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts with light caramel and mild malt cream. A little hop spice into juicy marmalade, Touch of red berries. Piney fruity finish, mildly bitter. Light and drinkable if not blowing my socks off with the hop profile.

355ml bottle from Boxbeers. BBE 01/04/17. Pours dark copper orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of caramely malts, grass, citrus, pine, resin and herbal hops. Taste is sweetish, caramely malty and grassy with some herbal hops, loads of pine, resin, hints of toffee. Finish is bitter, malty and caramely with loads of herbal notes, pine and resin. Not really what I was expecting, where is the dankness?

Keg tap at Draft House Hammersmith. Dark reddish-brown with a small off-white head. Loads of lacing. Pine resin, rose petals, chewy dark malt. Lovely but uncompromisingly bitter taste. The hop oils give out burnt pine, dark chocolate and sharp underripe berry. There’s a wash of Turkish Delight sweetness in the middle. Intense bitter finish but shorter than I imagined it would be. A really damn good beer. I wish I was still drinking it. Oh wait, I still am! And so should you be...

Bottle from Systembolaget Hansa. Amber with a large head. On the sweet side with some hops, caramel and malt. The body was kind of thick and the finish bitter.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Hazy mahogany colour, rich firm head. Something assaults my nostrils. Not sure if it caused by a strange reaction between hops and roasty malt or if it simply is petrol and rubber. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. My taste receptors hits the roof, and a distorted mess containing sugar, resin, ink, rubber and white noise is what remains. Defines "unbalanced". And I usually quite like Founders...

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL in 12 oz form, enjoyed at home on a nice mid August evening just before going to see Beetlejuice in a park. Appearance is a dark red with a thin slightly off white head. Aroma is sweet with a nice malty and hoppy mixture, hops are a mixture of grassy and spruce. Taste really is very good, has a nice bite to it from an ABV and bitterness. Very much enjoyable, I can see what the hype is all about.

On tap at the hay merchant. Pours a dark amber with medium off white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong resin, dank, pine. Medium body, pine, dank, resin, lingering bitterness, very good.
