Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 4/10/2011. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. sweet, caramel and red fruit aroma with a touch of grassy hop. Flavour maintained the same sweetness with a bitter, alcohol laden, finish. Ok.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Slightly hazy gold, small white head. Good rich aroma and initial flavour of traditional English hops - lemon, straw and farmyard dominate, with a dusty hop bitterness. The first taste, in fact, made me dream of an English hop revival, it was so redolent of a hot sumemr in the English coutryside. However, a few gulps more and the beer turns sweet, sugary and syrupy - so much so that it eventually drowns out the hops and starts to dissolve your taste. Maybe, unusually, this is a beer that needs to be made weaker? Still worth trying for the aroma and first few sips though.

Handpull cask Spoons. It’s too sweet. Too much unsubtle alcohol.. Lots of English hops on finish. Not great
