Bottle from Melbicks Garden Centre, Coleshill. Murky brown with off-white head. Aroma is malty and fusty, with biscuit, caramelised pear, earthiness. Taste of stewed fruits, biscuit, yeast, toffee, citrus zest and that underlying earthiness. Light to medium bodied, slightly chewy. Interesting.

500ml bottle. Poured a clear medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is nutty malt, light caramel, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a smooth, malty, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A really solid English bitter. Served a little too cold initially, but the flavours came flooding through when it warmed.

Cask at Reading BF. Amber-gold colour with virtually no head. Sulphur, sourness, light bitterness. Maybe a bit of lemon. Not great, in fact verging on bad. The things I do to turn my counties map a little more blue...

Half-pint, cask ale at Swan With Two Nicks. Clear amber coloured body, filmy layer leaving crocheted lacing down the glass. Malt-fruity nose, mid-sweet, promising. Blended malt-fruity flavours of caramel, nuts, and ripe fruits. Bittersweet tail. Decent version of the style. Nice. (Worcester 07.07.2018).
