During World War II, the Allies launched an extensive oil campaign to cripple the Axis powers' fuel supply. The campaign involved strategic strikes on refineries, storage facilities, and transportation routes.
The success of the mission had a significant impact on the outcome of the war. It weakened the Axis powers' ability to wage war, as they struggled to obtain the fuel needed to power their military machinery. Meanwhile, the Allies were able to maintain their fuel supply and launch successful offensives on multiple fronts.
The campaign remains a testament to the ingenuity and determination of the Allied forces, who were able to use strategic bombing to cripple the enemy's infrastructure and ultimately win the war.
Our brewers tapped into their own ingenuity and tracked down a red wine barrel that was used to age Weller bourbon for 9 months. After several months of our own aging, the thick oil-like stout our brewers added to the barrel had finished its campaign. Just like the Allies, the oak barrel, red wine, bourbon, and beer characteristics worked together, imparting flavors of vanilla, dark fruit tannins, and chocolate, balanced with a touch of roasted grain and ethyl alcohol. The result is a strategically complex beer, striking your palate on multiple fronts.

Dark brown with a medium sized foamy beige head that left good lacing. Sweet and malty with caramel, strong dark fruit, red wine and whiskey. Very long finish. Full bodied.
