Mono is an evolution of the ’single hop’ phenomenon. While Galaxy is the stated hop on the label, the true concept here is to display the headliner in it’s greatest form possible, and if you ask me every hop is better when paired or supported by others. So we added some accents of Centennial & Sterling to widen the frequency and crank up the volume of bright tangerine, grapefruit, and fresh grass.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Clear pale straw color with a thin white head that dissipates almost instantly. Nose is all fruit. Big aromas of green pineapple, orange and lemon with some grassy notes as well. Nice fruit and floral notes in the mouth. Watery mouthfeel with a nice clean and crisp bitter finish. Very nice take on a pilsner. --- Beer merged from original tick of Stillwater Contemporary Works Mono on 29 Jun 2015 at 00:06 - Score: 7

~12 oz Tulip draft at Burg and Barrel in Overland Park, Kansas. The pour is a slight haze golden with a 1/2 inch white head. The aroma is peach fruit, cereal malt and some floral herbal grass. The taste is big herbal grass and the peach fruit cracker malt carries the finish. The palate is light bodied with unfiltered body and the herbal mineral finish. Different, though fun and well made.

Bottle @ home. $3 @ Wilbur’s bier snobe palace. Pours a hazy yellow appearance with a lasting white head. The aroma is spicy - kind of like spearmint - grassy with some notes of aromatic weeds. There’s a little pepper and lemon in there but spearmint is the dominant scent I’m getting. Dry. Hint of cooked veggies in background. Fairly high bitterness. Quite grassy and herbal. Fairly spicy and green as well. Light body. Slight bit of minerals. I wanted to like this one but it’s a touch flawed and green.

Pours lightly hazy - moderate lace - nose is bright, complex tropical hop character (pineapple, mango, grapefruit), along with some herbal and grassy notes - soft texture - snappy, dry malt flavor - some tangy citrus, peppery hops - moderate mineral character - finish is zesty, dry, moderately bitter - really good.
