Waldnaab is a Bernstein, or amber, lager we offer as homage to some of the earliest lagerbiers stored in cellars and Bavarian mountainsides. It presents whole grain biscuit on the nose and fulsome, toasty bread crust on the palate. A gentle touch of noble hops balance the layered malt sweetness coming from a selection of specialty craft malts from our region, the Piedmont. This creates a full bodied, flavorful lager without the heft. There’s enough depth of flavor going on to make it throughly enjoyable each time you raise your glass, while highly drinkable so you’ll want to come back for another. Just like we remember.

Pint can - hazy amber with a substantial and lasting head - presents more like a Vienna - a lot of crusty bread and rustic graininess - lightly caramelized maltiness - rich malt profile, but the flavor is mostly dry, especially in the crusty bread finish - lightly bitter - lingering toasted grain on the tail end - it’s good, but the fact that they charge 24 bucks for a 4 pack of this is a god damn crime.

16oz can pours a murky amber with some white head that faded fast. Nose has malt and dried leaves, dark dough, yeast, black tea. Flavor is malt and caramel and first running tea, some carob. Big tannins on the finish, a little sweetness but otherwise fairly dry. Medium bodied. Good complexity for the product.
