On tap at the ChurchKey, DC. A solid tan head on a near black body. It has a sumptuous nose featuring Scotch, cherries and mid-range coffee. A lovely, dense, smooth and slightly creamy body supports a nice range of balanced tastes. Rich dark chocolate, slightly bitter coffee, cherries, ash, a light smoked peat presence and a nice hint of sourness to challenge the gentler tastes. A lovely brewing accomplishment.

Bottle at home. Aroma is roasted malt, mild peat, tobacco, dark chocolate, notes of dark fruits, coffee, hops, touch of smoke and liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet and moderate bitter with a bittersweet finish. Body is medium to full. Not too boozy, drinks relatively easy. Very nice, mild peat with lots of other flavours such as chocolate and coffee, dark fruity notes, good balance.

Bottle @ home, probably the first batch, so about 2 years old. Pitch black color. Dense beige head with moderate retention. Aroma's of light peat, molasses, red fruit, roast. Retronasal too the peat is just mild, with light roast, sweetness, chocolate. Flavor is above moderate sweet, chocolatey, fruity. Medium bodied. A bit low carbonation.Long finish, with chocolate. Very nice.
