Bottle shared in Hackney - many thanks to Daniel. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Strong peat in the nose, smoked malts, raisins. Medium sweet flavour with lots of ashy roast, ample charred meat, burnt toast. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with some more bitter ash, old leathery berries. Not bad. (July 2017, score 3.5)

Tried again in November 2019 and enjoyed it a bit more. Bumping up to 3.7.

On tap at Haand Festival. A black beer with a tan head leaving lacing. The aroma is on the roasted, peaty side, with coffee, chocolate and a burnt touch. Some dark sugar in the flavor, but mostly roasted, peated malts. Coffee and chocolate too. It’s full-bodied, smooth and nicely carbonated, with a lasting roasted and peated finish. A delicious peated imperial stout. Normally I’m not too fond of the peated beers, but this was quite smashing. 160528

At a tasting, very little head, opaque very dark brown color, aroma of strong roasted coffee, cedar and a light peatiness in the back, quite sweet coffee flavor with some soy sauce and an extremley dark and bitter chocolate. Just a bit heavy but nice and enjoyable.
