A rich, hearty ale perfect for the holiday season with a malty sweetness and spicy hop character. The generous use of five different malts is responsible for the full flavor and high alcohol level of this beer

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a fully gone head. Oxidised and mild malty aroma with a light orange fruity note. Medium sweet and caramelish malt flavour with a mild citric and bitter note. Lingering fruity finish with a low bitterness and mild fruity flavour.

Courtesy peter, poured a reddish amber, smallish head. Rich figgy apricot marmalade aroma, some spicy hops. Flavor was drier than expected, less fruity, more bready, with hints of cocoa and tobacco. Curious. Full finish. Great as a Christmas beer, odd on a 90 deg Florida afternoon while grilling!

I think this beer is a bit underated. Pours with a small, fizzy, light brown head that leaves a bit of lacing. Deep amber body. Aroma of fig, port wine and spices. Malty, chocolate, then spicey, and finally fig or pitted fruit taste. A bit too fizzy for my liking, but a strong showing for a Texas beer.

12 oz. bottle (inaugural batch - July 2007) from Zinister, enjoyed on Christmas Day. Pour is clear ruby brown with a smaller tan head. Visible carbonation on the pour, that stops quickly. Aroma of sweet biscuit malt, very deep - reminiscent of a Scotch Ale. Some dried fruit (raisins) in the aroma as well. Taste is full maltiness, sweet from beginning to end. Nice holiday spicy twang to the finish. Towards the end, the body of this flattened out quite a bit. Nice to see a new one from Saint Arnold, thanks Michael!

12oz bottle from KAggie97; Nose is fresh baked biscuits with caramel sauce; rusty red (good Christmas color) with a medium beige head; flavor is caramel malt, dried cranberry fruitiness (not sweet), and mild peppery spiciness. "Very unusual"

Bottle. Pours a dark ruby color with a small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is very sweet with spicy hops and pine. Decent lacing on this one. The taste is very smooth malt with a spicy finish and hides the alcohol well. Very easy to drink and a great winter brew. An excellent English Strong Ale from Saint Arnold.

Draught
Beautiful light amber color. Some caramel aroma. The taste is quite simple, based on some cereals and caramel, as the aftertaste. Drinkable but without thrills.

Fiery orange-red body, thin off-white head. Caramely, toasty aroma with hints of brown sugar and dark fruit in addition to earthy, bitter hops. Toasty, cerealy, fruity body with hints of grapes and smoke, with a lingering bitter finish. Nice cherry notes develop as the beer warms. Nutty and rather complex, but thin-bodied. Alcohol has a light presence. A nice extra sent by Walt.

Bottle Pours a clear redish copper witha nice thick light tan head that last quite a while leaving blocky lacing. Having accidentally snorted this beer just nowm, the aromas escape me temproarily... Flavors are very woody, tree bark, fairly sweet and yes the hops are a bit spicy, but only in the background. The 7% is not very ni\oticeable, carbonation is moderate, feel is not very heavy and the finish is a nice dark semi sweet malt flavor. Pretty good. Thanks again to Kaggie97

Thanks to legion242 for this one. Pours a pretty reddish-brown with a medium beige head that lasted pretty well. Decent lacing. Sweetly spiced aroma with a hint of malt as well. Very smooth mouthfeel, with flavors of sherry, malt, and spice. Mild alcohol flavor in the finish. A great winter warmer!
