A typical old fashioned dark mild, but with a surprisingly fresh bitterness, which is held right to the end

Cask-conditioned at the Crosse Keys (JDW), London 14/10/10. Dark brown with hints of red and a decent, off-white head. aroma of berry fruit with a touch of chocolate. Light, easy drinking with more fruit, a touch of roasted malt and short, bitter finish. Fine.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise, London NW1, UK on 9th June 2009. Very flavoursome dark mild with notes of charcoal and roasted malts in the initial kick. A long dry finish and a strongly textured mouthfeel. Although head disappeared there was no loss of condition and the zinginess lasted to the bottom of the glass. Absolutely excellent.

Cask@GBBF2008. Deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma and flavour are both much the same; peas, mild roasted notes, some slight fruityness. A bit strange sourish notes, so could be a bit off? 4 4 5 3 9

Cask at The Hop Pole Aylesbury, Bucks, 08-11-07 Pours dark brown with a great cushion of white creamy head. Aroma ok but nothing of note save for some malt. Initially creamy taste (but that was probably just getting through the head) there was a suprising bitterness about this beer (and I wrote these exact notes in the pub without looking at the commercial description) so pleased that I picked that up, as i’m not always the most observant. This was not bad at all, though I did rush it a little.
