A typical old fashioned dark mild, but with a surprisingly fresh bitterness, which is held right to the end

Half-pint, cask at Wheatsheaf, shared with Finn. Good looking, deep, dark coloured body. Dissipating beige head. Dark malts to the nose added by a drop of resin. The flavour displays aniseed malts, wood and resin-like hops. Bitter liquorice malts to the ending. Tasty mild (London, 4.11.2012).

(Cask at Angleterre, 20121119) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized, white and long lasting. Aroma had malts and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, grass and bitterness. Afteraste was malty and bitter. The hops were quite strong for a mild but that was not too disturbing.

Cask at Lattice House, King’s Lynn
Dark amber color. Both aroma and flavor are a bit too mild; some chocolate and roasted malt flavor, quite dry mouthfeel, and too much roasted malt in the end. Correct bitterness.
Average Ale.

Gravity cask at The Bree Louise, London. Pours shiney brown with a foamy head. Bit ot toast, light roast and faint fruits on the nose. Fairly sweet flavor, toast and bread, faint earth and roast. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly dry finish, lots of dough, faint leaves and toast. Not bad. Easy.

Pigs Ear Festival, Hackney. Bitter toffee and a slightly fruity undertone distinguish this mild. Not bad.

@ The Mitre, Edinburgh. Dark brown. Thin mocha head. Looks great. The aroma is full of dark fruits - overripe though. Dark fruits on the palate, with rich toasty/roasty character. Lots of character to this one.
