Cask at the Crosse Keys (JDW), London. Tawny with a ring of tan head; nutty aroma; earthy with a bitter nut kernel taste; and some demerara sugar to finish. Rather on the bitter side for a mild.

Not quite black but very dark with a thick off-white head. Poor character mild, little aroma or flavour, possibly a bad barrel. 44438

Dark purplish brown. Spruce and summer berry aromas. Sweet taste throughout, fruitiness lingers. Odd rough aftertaste which marks the taste down a point or two. Quaffable but imperfect.
