Formerly known as Barnstormer.
Rich in fruit with hints of chocolate, we’ve made Barnsey a full-bodied dark ale that is both complex and deeply satisfying.
Barnsey is a truly rewarding and enjoyable beer, carefully brewed using a mix of Maris Otter, Chocolate and Crystal malts together with Bramling Cross hops. Barnsey contains wheat and barley malt.

Flaske delt med Steven, London april-14: nydelig mørk rubinfarge med offwhite skum som forsvinker nokså raskt. Beskjeden aroma kompenseres av en saftig smak dominert av mørke bær. Kort men god ettersmak.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Derry [010414]
Caramel brown, clear, frothy off white head, touch of lacing
Aroma of caramel malts, soft toasted malts, some hedgerow fruit
Taste of caramel malts, fruity caramel, soft toasted malts, slight chocolate, dab of toffee malts, brown bread, fairly bitter hedgerow fruit hops
Palate - Moderate carb, bit over carbonated, light to medium body but a bit thin. Finish - soft bitter hops, soft toffee malts
Overall - Not bad for a supermarket bitter, quite a nice flavour here

Bottle. Clear dark-reddish brown. Has a tasty mix of grain and roasted malts in an interesting fusion. Slightly sweetened nose and taste.

(Bottle) Dark, caramel-coloured beer and there’s a lot of caramel in the aroma too, along with malt. Taste is slightly sweeter than I expected but is characterised by the caramel and malt as well, with a bit of hop in the finish. It’s not quite as tasty as I was expecting but it’s still a very drinkable beer.

[25/1/13: Cask at Graze, Bath. rb score 6/4/8/2/13 (3.3)] Pours a dark reddish-brown with a moderate cream head. Sweet with cream and butter to start (rather cloying in fact). Then there’s quite a heavy roasted malt bitterness - at this point I wasn’t really enjoying it. But then the flavours start to emerge - lots of chocolate, plums and raisins, and a fair bit of liquorice. It’s verging on being a porter, really, and it gradually grew on me. Apart from the mouthfeel, that is, which needs some work. Despite being a fairly decent pint overall, it failed to compensate for the shoddy, disorgainised, and very slow service in this venue. [22/1/2015: Cask at the Falcon, High Wycombe. rb score 6/4/7/4/14 (3.5)] Brown with a thick beige head. Rather sweet toffee up front with some leaf mulch, then a lovely rich roasty coffee. A little citrus in the finish and a lasting malt and coffee aftertaste. Good beer, definitely closer to to a porter than a bitter in my mind though. Overall score is the average of all rates.

Dark for a bitter, but the flavor is right in the zone.Pours reddish/brown with creamy head, and nice coffee bitterness.Mouthfeel is just right, not watery. Listed on the label as a dark bitter, this is very pleasant....
