A refreshing dark beer! Dark brown with a white head. Roast malt/coffee notes on the nose lead to chocolate-vanilla and prickly hops on the palate. Finish is cleansing and refreshing.

(Cask at Black Door, 20130913) The beer poured clear and almost black. Its head was small, long lasting and lightly brown. Aroma had toasted malts, toffee and English hops. Palate was medium bodied and low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, toasted mals, sweet English hops, coffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. The aroma was decent but the taste was too dominated by the burnt flavour.

Very dark, clear brown beer with a thick, beige head. Coffee and malt aroma. Taste is an initial hit of hop followed by the chocolate, coffee and malt but it’s the hop that lingers into the finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours brown with a warm orangey hue and a small off-white head. Rustic aroma, quite some yeast and overripe dark fruit and british hops. Medium body, sweet overripe dark fruit and some ashes and roast - ashtray actually. No real bitterness. As said: rustic. 040213

Bottle from Appellation Wines, Dalry. Pours a lovely dark ruby brown with small white head. Chocolate and mellow roast on the nose, some hop spice. Good, clean roast flavours on the palate, well-balanced, medium length finish, perfect carbonation. Overall - one of the best milds out there.
