Dead Rise was brewed to highlight the indelible character of Old Bay through bright and refreshing citrus hop notes and a crisp tart finish. Our brewers worked with the spice experts at Old Bay for over six months to develop the recipe and craft a beer that will quickly earn its spot alongside the iconic yellow, blue, and red tin.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 9/30/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, lime, clove, nutmeg, black/red pepper, paprika, allspice, cracker, biscuit, light honey, floral, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and compelxity of pale malt, spices, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, lime, clove, nutmeg, black/red pepper, paprika, allspice, cracker, biscuit, light honey, floral, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/grassy bitterness and peppery spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, clove, nutmeg, black/red pepper, paprika, allspice, cracker, biscuit, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of pale malt, spices, and earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero alcohol warming as expected of 5.6%. Overall this is a very good spiced blonde ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of pale malt, spices, and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, and pretty refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Blond with thin head. Aroma has light citrus and hops. Flavour has hints of pepper and some sweet spices too. It’s dryness and slight warmth in the finish are very pleasant.

Bottle shared. Lovely picture of a mentally unstable looking crab on the bottle. Clear golden with a big white head. Aroma of herbs, spice and dough. Flavour is light moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation. Boring. [16-07-2016]

12oz bottle. Filtered yellow body. Foamy, patchy, white head. Clean Pale Ale backdrop, the Old Bay is mild, but works not unlike other chili beers. Citrus comes out the more you sip at it. Quite fresh. A pretty great crab beer, or session beer in general. My only complaint is that the Old Bay is too muted.
