Re-rate - 2017/18 release - either my original rate was seriously flawed, or they've improved their process - wonderfully full in the mouth - moderate acidity and funk - toasty oak - tartness balances the sweetness nicely - moderate grape must - really excellent, actually - The barrel has done interesting.things to this beer - first, the.sweetness has been.significantly reduced - the beer is more tart now - the body has thinned a bit, but it’s still lively and.prickly in the mouth - the base beer already had slight notes of grape must, so now that character is amplified - oak flavor is a little bitter and intrusive - light doughiness remains - tart, bitter oak finish - not an improvement - give me the base beer any day over this.
