Draft. A deep red beer (not very pale for a winner in a pale ale competition) with a huge light tan head. The aroma is sweet and very malty with notes of caramel and lighter notes of fruit and sulphur - is the latter from pilsner malt? The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and medium notes of fruit and berries as well as lighter notes of wood, leading to a dry and slightly bitter finish where notes of fruit, berries, and burnt malts linger.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours almost clear, golden brown and with va lacing off-white head. Mild spiced, cinnamon like, breadish malt too. Holds a nice and mild spiced initial flavour. Goes into a more breadish flavour accompanied by a mild liqourice hops note. Mild spiced hoppy finish with some bitterness bite.
