Made for drinks store De Hopduvel in Ghent; was the first of their series of commissioned beers in 1982, but first brewed by 't Hamerken (later De Gouden Boom, now defunct) in Bruges, then by Slaghmuylder in Ninove and only then by Van Steenberge.

Bottle @ home.Clear medium orange color with huge, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is light malty, caramel, moderate yeasty, leather, frish cut tree, brown apples ala mashed apples and bacon. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. (280608)

Bottled. Yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, alcohol and nectar along with some yeast and mild spices. Flavour is spicy, yeasty, fruity and carries some notes of alcohol in it.

25 cL bottle, thanks to MiP. Pours hazy pale yellow with a dense white head. Light malty and yeasty aroma. Flavour is dry wheaty/malty with a subdued caramal note. Finish is slight spiced and yeasty.

Bottled. A hazy orange-amber beer with a huge bubbly light orange head. The aroma is sweet dusty hoppy and fruity. The flavor is sweet fruity, both citrus fruits and apples, but also with notes of spices and caramel, leading to a lightly bitter dry end. Very easily drinkable.

Bottle White, creamy head. Clear, amber body. Nose of grain, molasses, spices and some alcohol. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter initial flavour. Lightly sweet, ligthly bitter finish. A good VS-beer, but still as usual not excellent.

Bottled. Clear golden. Similar aroma to Hopduvel Blondine with it’s intense herbal spicyness. Medium sweet with juicy orange and peach flavour. Intense and overall hard to distinguish from Hopduvel Blondine, except for the slightly lighter body, and less perfumy nose.

(Bottle 25 cl) Another beer from Bios brewed according to a Hopduvel recipe. A noose-beer??? They really have a morbid sense of humour in naming their beers those Belgians. Golden with a nice frothy head. Feels rather light in body in spite of the alcohol. Massive bitterness with an underlying sweet note. A bit hard to pinpoint this. 240397

White head, gone fast; golden beer with yellow-green shine. Sweetish-sour nose, coriander, lemon, milk-ripe wheat, lemonbalm. Dry (candi-sugar?), faint citrussy, faint spicey (not really identifyable anymore, but coriander is highly likely). Rather light body, some alcoholburn. Not really great, OK strong blonde, but too weak for a tripel; I rather like the nose.
