Pours a deep, midnight black with a light tan head. Smells of coffee and dark chocolate and the mouthfeel is velvety smooth with flavors of roasted malts, oatmeal and warm bread. Dragonstooth is a very drinkable stout – satisfying but not heavy.

Dark and velvety, head is a little too frothy. Aroma wafts from the pour, semi sweet chocolate and roast grains. Taste is smooth and slick, minor bitterness, but mellow, rich flavor. This is really, really good stuff. Revisited this one 6 years later (8/1/19). Still a good beer, roasty chocolate, sweet, then bitter. No change

Tap at The Elysian Brewpub, Seattle, WA, USA. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, slight chocolate, rich, smooth and very easy drinking. A top quality stout.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense mocha head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, char, coffee, orange zest, pine, grapefruit, floral, oatmeal, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark roasted malt and hop notes. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, char, coffee, orange zest, pine, floral, grapefruit, oatmeal, and roasted earthiness. Fair amount of piney citrus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, char, coffee, citrus zest, pine, floral, oats, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic robustness and complexity of roasted malt flavors with hops; with a great balance between malts and hop bitterness; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, slick, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent export stout! Great balance and robustness of dark roast and hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut Denver. Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a brown head. Licorice, candy, chocolate, somewhat fruity, sweet aroma. Very rich coffee, burnt chocolate malty, in your face piney, herbal hoppy flavor with some nice fruity notes as well. Tasty piney, chocolate aftertaste. Fun beer!

Tap at Elysian Fields, Seattle - 09/11/12. Light black, tinges of dark mahogony brown in the light, dirty coffee head which soon thins but retains as a small pond and around the edge. Good lacing ensues. Nose is big roast malt, liqourice, chocolate, molasses. Taste follows nose, hoppy tones in the mix. Full end of medium bodied, soft carbonation, roasty finish. Decent!

Aroma is sweetish with fruits and some roasted notes. Flavour is rather nice with roasted malt, coffee, licorice. Also some fruity notes with sweet toffee. Dry finish.
