Pours a deep, midnight black with a light tan head. Smells of coffee and dark chocolate and the mouthfeel is velvety smooth with flavors of roasted malts, oatmeal and warm bread. Dragonstooth is a very drinkable stout – satisfying but not heavy.

650 ml bottle. Nice tan head. Black and thick - light doesn’t go through this one. Subtle malt and chocolate aromas. Dark chocolate and coffee bean flavors. A little acidic. Bitter finish. A good stout.

From tap at Taphouse Grill. Pours almost pitch black, small amber glare, with a small tan head. Aroma is mild tarish and dark roasted malty. Dark chocolate malt flavoured, smooth toasted caramelish to light vanilla accent. Roasted and dark malty finish. Light bitterness into the far finish.

Black color, with a compact brownish head. Heavy aroma of roasted malts. Full bodied, with a very good mix of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee flavor, and some residual sweetness. Strong bitterness, with a milky/creamy final.
Very good.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick and black with a small dark brown head that faded fairly quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was strong cocoa powder, chocolate syrup and hints of anise and vodka. The flavor was strong chocolate syrup, cocoa, light coffee and vanilla and moderate vodka and bitter floral hops. The finish was extremely long with lingering cocoa and almost Dr. Pepper. Full and smooth body.

Pours pitch black with a nice brown head. Aroma is roasty with notes of liqourice and coffee. Taste is quite smooth with hints of roasted malts, liqourice and caramel. Sweet, long lasting finish. Not as roasty as most of the imperial stouts. Well balanced.
